Update: Letters from legal counsel of the Vancouver Chinese Garden
An update to the original post titled “Say No to Condos at the Vancouver Chinese Garden…” as per request by the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden Society of Vancouver
I received these legal letters from the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden Society of Vancouver regarding the original post titled “Say No to Condos at the Vancouver Chinese Garden…” at this link that included a June 9 2017 quote from a past Executive Director of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden from a press conference against 105 Keefer:
“The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden plays an important role in Chinese cultural celebrations, such Mid-Autumn Moon Festival and Chinese New Year, and is a destination for tourists. The garden is located adjacent to the 105 Keefer site and the view from the garden will inevitably be impacted by the development. Tourists visit Chinatown to see and experience the unique culture we have to offer, not massive condo buildings like 105 Keefer.”
I decided to comply to the request in the letters, but left wondering why they wanted to use legal force to silence people who are trying to help protect the garden and park. I hope this is a satisfactory response. - Melody

Initial letters from Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden Society of Vancouver Board Chair, Danny Quon and Executive Director, Lorraine Lowe:
This last letter is from Joe Chan, a board member and legal counsel of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden Society of Vancouver.
On a similar note, the Vancouver Parks Board’s Sun Yat-Sen Public Park next door to the non-profit garden will be even more grossly impacted by 105 Keefer.
