Show your love for Chinatown in solidarity for Qixi Festival!
Celebrate Qixi Festival (aka "Chinese Valentine's Day") with a free Sun Yat-Sen Public Park walking tour, classical Chinese music, and community portraits to continue our protest against Beedie’s 105 Keefer!
Here's what's happening at the Chinatown Memorial Plaza:

3PM: Free community portrait session (Cute traditional outfits like qipaos optional!)
Until 4PM: Love for Chinatown red ribbon tree-tying activity and various games
Things to bring:
- Comfortable shoes for the tour
- Your own chair (and another for someone else)
- Cute traditional outfit like qipaos for portrait session (optional)
- Water to stay hydrated
Photos from Tea & Paint Dim Sum Night in Chinatown
On Saturday evening, while Beedie and their supporters were at a concert called #BeedieRocks or the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden’s electronic dance music event hosted by a company called UPSCALE, we continued to protest their acts of gentrification at the Memorial Plaza with a community Tea & Paint Dim Sum night with @lucky.munyi.
Here are some snapshots from the night:
We need your help!
After hosting several events, we’re now getting an overwhelming demand from the community to host even more events stretching well into September. To help us with the costs of expanding the event series, consider making a donation to the community events fund to make the events free and accessible to as many people as possible.
