Feb 3: Amplify Chinatown with banner making
Learn how to make protest banners with a Chinatown elder + more events
Join us for a community banner making workshop to amplify Chinatown organizing! Inspired by queer Chicago artist Aram Han Sifuentes and their Protest Banner Lending Library, this free, intergenerational event is for the community to come together to create protest and celebration banners to amplify Chinatown and our collective organizing.
Community elder and expert seamstress, 張女士 Ms. Zhang, along with artist Beverly Ho, will guide participants to collaboratively make banners for the community or of your own design.
Fabric, supplies, and equipment will be provided.
We’ll also be serving a small lunch and tea for participants.

2023 Recap
2023 was a roller coaster of a year for Chinatown. First off, in May, we resurrected this newsletter to activate the protests against 105 Keefer.
Despite Beedie’s building getting approved after 10 years of resistance, we didn’t give up. Since then, we’ve hosted 16 community events until the end of year. We kicked off a new brand for the events called Chinatown Together, hosting events from Vancouver to New Westminster.
In 2024, we’ll continue to keep resisting gentrification in Chinatown and celebrate culture and community together. Thank you for all your support!
