Eat dim sum + enjoy free Matriarch's Day festivities tomorrow in Chinatown
Don't miss the biggest spring event in Chinatown!
Not sure what to do for the mothers and matriarch’s in your life this Sunday? Here’s an itinerary for you to spend the day and create fun memories with your loved ones in Chinatown:
Take a stroll through the free Sun Yat Sen Park (and wonder why Parks Board is preventing you from walking through the Eastern gates into Chinatown)
Eat dim sum at Floata upstairs of the Chinatown Plaza Mall at 106 Keefer St (Hot tip: There’s a $20 deal for two dim sum plates and bowl of congee if you go before 11am. Limit of one per table)
Walk downstairs to the Chinatown Plaza Mall’s concourse and enjoy Chinatown Matriarch’s Day with dance, performances, crafts, palm reading and a seniors market! (Need anything tailored? Ms Zhang of Pistachio Fashions can get it done for you on the spot!)
Here’s what else to expect for Chinatown Matriarch’s Day:
Palm reading, on-the-spot tailoring (bring clothes you need fixing!), senior-made jewelry and crafts, and more at the Chinatown Seniors Mini Market (Bring cash!)
Uyghur traditional dance demo and workshop by Adalat Dance Academy
Drop-in floral workshop by local artist @shyegg_ where you can learn to create beautiful pipe cleaner flowers that will last a lifetime
Dance performance & tribute to late community poet and activist William Lim by Carnegie Dance Troupe of Karen Jamieson Dance
