You're invited to Chinatown Together's Banner Showcase at 10am on Sun, Feb 11
Come see our banners and participate in the Chinatown Spring Festival festivities with us!
HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!! 新年快樂!!! YEAR OF THE DRAGON!!! Thank you for all of your support through this whole thing. Truly, we have come together like the fierce yet kind dragons we all are. What a rollercoaster ride it has been this week!
We will be holding a banner viewing for the public first before the parade starts and then participate wherever we are welcomed.
Representation matters. You matter. We all matter. So let’s do this TOGETHER!!!
You're invited! To come to our banner viewing and march with us as well! (We ask that if you come to march, to please register here, so we can contact you beforehand).
Date and Time: Sunday, February 11 at 10AM (We encourage you to arrive at 10AM or earlier as there will be a lot of people) We want you all there with us so we can show everyone what community looks like.
Meeting Location: Chinatown Millennium Gate
We will brief everyone, and review that any signage/banners folks bring follow parade committee rules.
Parade starts at 11AM
Our team will be there early — Look for Melody and Gal and our big yellow banner Chinatown Together. If you can't find us, Gal will have long red Chinese knot earrings and be holding a small gong! Email us or DM us on Instagram @chinatowntogether if you have trouble finding us.
You’re all welcome to bring signage and banners but we do request that these follow committee rules of community and cultural celebration as we’ve always stated. We do not want another debacle when we have always planned to be present peacefully in celebration of community, culture, and the new year.
This is a historical moment as it will be the first time queer and trans folks will be able to be part of the festivities, and tomorrow we’re all celebrating together!
If you don't know what to wear or want some guidelines (technically there aren't any from us), we just recommend you dress colourfully! Wear your best rainbow suit, or even adorn yourself with some golden yellow for Chinatown Together. Dress warmly, bring rain jackets, umbrellas, and ear protection!
Our team at Chinatown Together will be carrying some yellow knots in reference to our logo.
And if you have fun bells, drums, or little party noisemakers, bring ‘em!
