2000 sweet rice balls made with love by the community yesterday at Kam Wai Dim Sum are waiting for you today at the Winter Solstice 冬至 celebration in Chinatown from 3:30pm to 5:30pm! (Recipe and recap of rice ball making coming soon)
Here’s what you can expect at the celebration today:
Lantern-making for lantern procession and collective lantern artwork (free!) - 3:30 to 5:30pm
Pipa (Chinese lute) musical performance - 3:30pm to 4pm
Community open mic (Want to sing, play music, read poetry, share a story or joke, do magic? Our scheduled performer is ill, so we need your help to entertain community and end the year with a bang! Respond to this email if you can help!) - 4pm to 4:30pm
Accordion performance - 4:30pm to 5pm
Tea ceremony - 3:30pm onwards
Sweet dumpling tasting from dumplings made the night before at Kam Wai (free!) - 4:15pm onwards (first come, first served)
Finale - Chinese choir and community lantern singalong procession - 5pm to 5:30pm
